How to get MATIC for minting

1. Add Polygon network to Metamask

Go to https://chainlist.org/. Click on Connect Wallet in the top right corner.

Once your wallet is connected, let's add the Polygon Network (also called Polygon (PoS), or Matic network). Type Matic in the search bar.

You will be prompted by Metamask to allow Chainlist to add a Network, click on the Approve button.

MetaMask will prompt if you want to switch networks now.

Once you've added your desired network, you can switch networks by opening MetaMask and clicking at the top of the MetaMask extension. You'll see your current network displayed, click on it and you can select any network from the drop-down list.

2. Bridge Eth to Polygon

In order to spend or swap your Ethereum currencies on Polygon, you must first "bridge" them across to the Polygon blockchain. This guide explains how to transfer currencies from the Ethereum network to the Polygon (PoS) network.

First head to the wallet icon, located on the top-right of the OpenSea website. You should already have some ETH in your account.

Once you have ETH in your wallet, click on the three circles on the right. You should see a button, "Bridge to Polygon".

After clicking it, a pop-up window will appear and you can enter how much ETH you would like to bridge onto Polygon.

You'll be prompted to sign a transaction on your crypto wallet. If you use MetaMask, it will look like this.

Once you've signed the transaction and it's completed, you should see a confirmation. The bridging process from Ethereum to Polygon takes approximately 7 minutes. Once it's successful, you'll see a purple ETH icon representing your bridged ETH on Polygon (PoS).

For extra confirmation, you can visit "Token Transfers" for your address on Polygonscan, which is similar to Etherscan.

3. Swap ETH for MATIC

In order to make a swap you will need some MATIC on your wallet to pay fee. You can get some using one of the MATIC faucets, for example macncheese.finance.

Next you will need to head to quickswap.exchange and switch to Polygon network in your Metamask as described in 1st point of this tutorial.

Select ETH in the from field and select MATIC in the ”to” field, and enter the amount of ETH you want to sell.

If you’ve not approved ETH or any other token that you want to sell on QuickSwap before, you should first click the ”approve” button and allow the smart contract to use your token.

After clicking the approve button, confirm the transaction on the MetaMask notification which will only incur a very small transaction fee.

Once the token approval is done, click the ”swap” button.

After clicking the swap button, review your trade and click the ”confirm swap” button.

You should again confirm the transaction on the MetaMask notification after clicking the confirm swap button.

The swap will be completed in a very short time with very low transaction fees and you’ll receive MATIC coin or tokens in your wallet.

You can also check your address on PolygonScan and view all the transactions you’ve done and your MATIC and token balances.
